Somis Milestone 2 reached…

November 17th, 2005

Milestone 2 has been approved (altough one document was missing, but noone noticed).

We started hacking on the catalyst base now, mostly just some basic controller and view parts.

UML and ERD are nearly finished, so we seem to be on schedule, that’s fine!

Chris even created some first sketches for a logo for Somis.

Somis Milestone 1 reached…

November 3rd, 2005

Milestone 1 has been submited and we received positive feedback already, so we can continue on reaching milestone 2. Coding will start as soon as all documents for milestone 2 (QB2) are in place.

Looking fine so far, we are still on schedule and still quite motivated, I’ll be the one trying to keep it that way.

Approching first Somis milestone

October 14th, 2005

We have been hard at work, to finish in time, for our first milestone, which was targeted at Oct. 15. But thanks to our project tutor, who informed us recently, that he won’t be available til Oct. 27th. Good thing is that it seems to actually work out as the usual projects in real life…

We will continue working on the second milestone (QB2), to keep the pace up we have now. The milestones themselves will be slightly adjusted (move QB1 two weeks, QB2 one week, and we’re again on schedule.

The project name itself will remain “WWS-On”, while the working title for the software prototype will be “Somis”.

So let’s see how the concepual milestones work out, implementation will be probably quite straightforward, as soon as the Catalyst framework is understood.

Holiday, Terms, Specifications

September 30th, 2005

Holidays in Greece were great, and I took the time (together with my wife) to hammer out the actual requirements for our project.

So the draft for the requirements specification (deutsch: Lastenheft) are ready, now whats missing is to put it into offical shape and create a text document. I’ll try to put as much effort into this as possible as it will be the basis for the whole project and all subsequent documents, especially the functional specification (deutsch: Pflichtenheft).

The software prototype with a preliminary database design has to wait, as I had no laptop with me during my stay in greece, and I’m now concentrating on the requirements specification.

In the meantime also the actual project description changed from Online-CRM to WWS-Online (this is the project title, the tool itself will be called somis, a simple online merchandise information system).

Some more details have to be discussed with the project team:

  • Everybodies status
  • IM tool to use (Skype, ICQ, Google Talk)
  • Should we use this blog as action tracker
  • Is a 2 week meeting schedule ok for everybody

Back to work now…

Some more days to go…

September 6th, 2005

Still some more days left before we leave for our one-day roadtrip to Pfungstadt near Frankfurt. It’s going to be a long trip, starting early at around 06:00 to be there in time for the project kickoff at 14:30. It will last probably only 3-4 hours, and shortly after we’ll be heading back again to Vienna. At least enough time to hammer out the details, who is going to work on which parts.

The available parts should be project management, project documentation, model (database and classes), controller (flow and business logic), view (templates and interface design). Each part of course has some influence on others, documentation is needed, sometimes specifications, project status, …

A lot to do, but we are confident to finish the project within 3-4 months, so we have a chance to create our own christmas present.

CRM project proposal accepted

August 25th, 2005

It’s been some lazy 3 years now, but I’m now proceeding the final stage of my studies at Privat Fernfachhochschule Darmstadt now. All exams here in vienna are finshed, so only the project and the final diploma thesis are left.

For the project we are now 4 guys here living in vienna, who will work on my proposed CRM project.

It will basically allow networkers and small companies to manage their business online. More details are probably to come.
