Wengen now open!

January 13th, 2006

Qualification ended, for some in frustration, for some in absolut excitement. HerbNator although joining in late took the 2nd place in qualification after he received some tips for some of the important parts of the track, getting in only 0.03 second behind me.

ludwigma, JoAce, schurli and Richard matched for the third place. But also the FerroColor, Beniator and the others had some good fights, which finally Ferrocolor being the best there.

But now, the race in Wengen is OPEN!

I took the Lead with a late-night racing session with a low 2:45 time, followed now by HerbNator and JoAce, both just starting to get used to the conditions.

Yes, it’s ice, a lot of ice. The track feels very different compared to sun, you have to be absolutely precise in every turn.

Get in low, make direction, stand up and take the turn, and then back into racing postition, maybe correct the turn slightly for the next turn.

I found some parts of the track rather difficult, and have now identified the parts where I’m losing most of my time. It’s the long right turn after Hundschopf, Brüggli-S is ok now, and then after the long and fast Hannegg-Schuss the strange left-turn, strong ripples and a turn right with a huge jump, I’m loosing a lot of speed there (up to 1,5 seconds to the finish). Maybe you had a little more luck in that part, just tell me!

A lot of racers already started to set there first time, and it’s looking fine so far. We still try to reach our goal now, TOP30. Join in, take the long and bumby ride with us. I’m sure we can make it!

A new logo has arrived…

January 8th, 2006

With a lot of creative power and motiviation JoAce took the time to create a new logo, designed from scratch! Thanks a lot!
I vectorzied the logo into an svg file using inkscape, so we have now all the vector goodness we need to nail out the final details.

It’s already our logo on our club page, and here in it’s full beauty and size:

Feedback is of course more than welcome, simply drop us a mail or comment here!

By the way, HerbNator took the chance to get into second place throughout the day, so more competition is heating up.

Wengen qualification standings…

January 8th, 2006

Wengen is hard. Not so for HerbNator as it seems. After 2 hours of racing he made it into the Top 3. We have now a quite decent pack of top racers (5 now).
So we are now in the Top50 in the club qualification for Wengen. Very Good!

RandomLogic still has the lead, some 8 tenths before ludwigma, who had a very good ride yesterday. JoAce and HerbNator are only seperated by 0.001 secs, and schurli86 is also only some more tenths behind.

JoAce still has some hardware problems, so he is not able to race on his own pc, but we definitly find a solution for the race, as he is one of our strongest contenders.
Our newest member Richie also hust waits for another good run to make it into the top 5 of our club.

Hope that will allow us to finally reach our set goal to achieve a TOP30 rank for the Wengen race! Keep on going, we can do it, just do it!

Wengen is tough!

January 4th, 2006

Qualification for Wengen is now open. Wengen is a very long and tough race track. You have to be really sensitive for the upper part, round curves, some of them need to be droven directly, others very round to keep the speed. The “Brüggli-S” requires some attention too, but can be passed with a good right and an early left turn to keep the pace.

The second part of the track again requires a lot of sensitive curve racing. Taking the direct path causes some loss of speed, which easily sums up to 1-2 secs. So try to find a good compromise between round and direct racing.

ludwigma set the first scores with a very good 2:42 time, but was soon overtaken by myself. In the last 2 days DrPhlox, ElGrecco and especially JoAce stepped in to improve our clubs race-time. Our newest member schurli86 (he would have beaten us in the first 2 races! So I’m glad he joins late) again showed some good competition, but JoAce managed to pass him by more then 1 sec currently. But I’m sure you all will keep on going, until you crush my leadership!

If you need tips, just ask, everyone is happy to help, even if you manage to pass him afterwards ;-)

Keep on racing, Wengen will start on Jan. 13th and our target is to get into the Top 30 clubs. I’ll definitly go for it, so join me for the race!

We finshed 46th in Bormio!

January 1st, 2006

We had a real good racing pace in Bormio, although HerbNator only had 3-4 hours of racing, before he left for Spain, we had 4 drivers in the Top 1000 list and made it into the Top 50 Clubs!

See yourself: Bormio Race Standings, Club Standings

It’s been a tough race, we even had some face to face sessions for a little improvement. HerbNator set the first below 2:03 time, but was shortly overtook by JoAce and myself. ludwigma had a hard time getting below 2:03 but finally managed to get there with a good 2:02.7 time. DrPhlox had some good improvements on the second racing day, leading in front of Beniator. Beniator, ElGrecco, JoergX, Ferrocolor and spenderniere had a real tough fight, and Benitaor and ElGrecco took the lead here, with FerroColor beating spenderniere only by 0.3s. Vorläufer99, Kuemmelbaron, Chrisu1201 and nuwanda probably didn’t have enough time to get the pace going, but still had some remarkable times for their efforts.

Again some racers skipped that race, so no chance for them to gather any points here, I hope they join in for the next race!

So here are the club internal results for Bormio:

Nr. Name Time ClubPoints

9. Ferrocolor 2:05.791 2
10. spenderniere 2:06.083 1

And so the current standings for the Club Ski-Challenge WorldCup:

3. ludwigma 16 (-1)
5. DrPhlox 11 (-1)
6. Beniator 9 (-1)
6. JoergX 9 (+1)

10. PP80 2 (+1)
11. spenderniere 1
11. Guenni_Fast 1 (+1)

Thanks to all starters for this fantastic race.

The second race is on…

December 29th, 2005

Bormio race started yesterday evening, and the most desperate already started to take some action.

So the pack is currently lead by RandomLogic with 2:02.8, closly followed by HerbNator, JoAce and ludwigma, all within a second.

DrPhlox and Kuemmelbaron still try to get their grip on the “snowy” condition, as they only trained for sun.

I’m sure JoAce will try to push the limits again on snow with a low 2:02 time, like in qualification.

Hope the rest of the club is joining in for some tough competition. Happy skiing!
